>> My '95CSE has never shown over 10v after cranking, though it pops up to 14.4 as soon as it gets running. Normal after crank voltage displays as 7s and 8s.
Mine typically has shown from 10.0 to maybe 10.5v, but lately has plunged down into the 8's or 9's and sounding anemic, indicating the battery is flakey. This only after having sat overnight, but once started always shows 10.7 or higher in subsequent starts. This indicates to me that it is charging on the short term, but loses its charge over time.
>> Contacts and other basics have been checked and cleaned.
I haven't done this maintenance chore, but probably should before buying a new battery. The battery presently on the car is a sealed Saab battery, and has been on the car for about three years, and was on the car when purchased. I have not had good luck with any Saab battery, and this battery's lifespan is a record for me with a five-Saab history.
>> By the way, isn't the temp display default great? We see lots of freezing temps up this way. It is good to be reminded that things could be getting slick.
<chuckle> Well, I live in Baton Rouge, and this isn't really an issue here. But the next time I ride in sub-freezing weather, not an everyday occurence by any stretch, I'll watch for it.
