chrisn,
Always loved that Stag, could never find the "right" one. There were a few in the club back home in Jersey but the owners wouldn't part with them. Had a TR-6 for most of my driving years, (28), sold my first one and bought an Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce 2000, smoothest engine and best gear ratio's ever but lacked the low end grunt and high-rev power of a Kastner prepared (with three Webers) full race six cylinder engine that my current TR-6 has. I've had this one, a 74 minus the bumper guards and seat belt interlocks, for 16 years and still enjoy it. It will pull away easily from our auto equipped 2.0 CD but the Saab, w/tweaked APC etc, will leave it behind on the highway in a heartbeat. The Saab auto tranny needs someone to develop a high perf clutch pack and high stall speed torque converter. Are you listening Dave (SPG9)???
Anyhow I have a need for both cars, emotional and otherwise, so I keep them. The CD goes to the body shop Thursday AM to repair the back end damage caused by an unknown ASSailant. A very pleasant experience with both the insuarance company (American Family) and the shop, BRB in Mosinee, WI. No hassles about cost with ins. people and a free loaner (Not a Saab however) from the shop.
Enjoy the Stag, it truly is one of a kind.
Ted
