I just switched from Mobil 1 to RP (10-40). I've got about 1500 miles on it since. It has already darkened in color - but I wouldn't call it
cruddy. When new, it looked purple - now, it's a very light brown.
I'll let you know in another 3500 miles what I think. I'd been using
Mobil ever since the engine had 10k miles on it - there's about 26k on it now.
