That's a fair deal. I like the '93 models because there's no passenger
side airbag. I've always felt that as long as one is wearing their
seat belt, then the airbag is almost a redundancy. Also, it's nice
having the glovebox, regardless how small it is. Obviously, you should
check all the service records on it. I'm sure it's already had the
DI cassette replaced, but find out when and how they've been gapping
the plugs since. Many on this board feel that the life of the DI is
highly correlated to the plug gap - too large a gap means excess heat,
which means premature failure of the DI. An NGK plug set to about .9mm
seems to be the ideal gap for this ignition. Although the transaxle has
the same final drive ratio as the '94-98's, it's not as robust, or smooth
as the later ones. The input shaft on the later models is substantially
larger in diameter, and I'm certain other internal parts are beefed up
as well. However, if the body and interior of the car are in good
condition, it still sounds like a good deal. You could conceivably put
another 100k on that engine and transaxle (I'm assuming the clutch has
been done in the immediate past) with no major repairs facing you.
There'll be small things like suspension components that have probably
worn, but nothing too major. Remember, this car probably went for close
to $40k when new. You could possibly get more than 100k out of it for
a fraction of that, and still be riding in style, comfort AND safety.
