If you have older LH-managment, it's better to use ordinary "recirculating" bypass valve. Why? You see, all air entering Air Mass Meter is being measured up and right amount of fuel is being calculated for injection into manifold. If you just dump this measured air out after AMM, computer canot notice it and still believes that all air is still there, and injects more fuel ending up with over rich mixture...(Bangs , sooting etc.)
