If the car is overheating/running very hot while the car is moving at speed (like cruising at 40 mph or higher), then my first and second guess is the thermostat is stuck closed. The blower fan and thermoswitch only come into play when the car is stopped or moving very slowly. If the thermostat hasn't been replaced in the past three years, replace it right away with a Saab OEM version. Don't drive the car if you can avoid it, because repairing an overheated engine will cost many more $$$ than even renting a car for a week.
Good luck!
