I am also starting to see rust along the bottom of the doors and towards the bottom of the rocker/rear wheel well area. I am have done some rudimentary repair work by grinding the rust down, applying rust inhibitor, and patching it up with metallic tape which I painted over using Cdn Tire generic paint (the match was fairly accurate, beleive it or not).
I am considering a professional repaint in the spring which I know will cost alot. The car has been absolutely trouble-free with about 280,000KM on the odomoter. I anticipate keeping her for another 3-5 years (is this realistic?).. the car still drives like new and has been maintained exceptionally well. I will reassess the car in the spring and make a decision then.
What other factors should I consider before investing in a paint job? Does anyone have thoughts regarding this?
