The Alarm in this car works fine, but the keyless entry (remote locks) is inoperative. The owners manual says push the remote five times and it'll retrain itself...that didn't work.

Took it to an independent shop and they said they couldn't talk to the theft computer (where the receiver for the remote is located) so they couldn't reprogram the remotes.

The dealer tells me not only will the theft computer need to be replaced, but all of the remotes too. This contradicts what the independent shop said...that, if they could get into the theft computer via the diagnositc computer, they could open up the progamming and retrain the remotes.....

I can't see paying $600 for another theft computer and additional bucks for more remotes.....IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE THAT KNOWS what probable faults are, how to program the remotes, IF the unit can be fixed, why the computers wouldn't talk ?
