This is a factory alarm. I am experienced with electronics (technician for 30 years), but do not know the details about this alarm. It is located under the dash on the passenger side. The module has inputs from all the door switches, the lock cylinders on both front doors, a glass breakage sensor in the roof, a receiver (with an antenna located near the rear-view mirror) built into the module for the remote transmitters.
It also has a data link wire that goes to the OBD-II plug located under the steering wheel. The theft alarm works fine (goes off, arms, shuts off the fuel relay, etc. ect. BUT THE keyless entry does not. It is not possible to put an after market unit on easily and still preserve the drive-away protection built into this thing.
My questions relate the the programming of this unit and the descrepancies between what the dealer told me (if module is bad, have to replace it and all remotes) and what the independent shop told me (can't program module cause computer won't talk and can just replace module and program to old remotes)....
I appreciate any and all help here !
