You guys and the dealers, you have to stay away from those damn dealers at all costs. You should see the guys who work at those places. I went to high school with a kid who ended up working at the SAAB dealer as a "Tech". Yeah right. If you guys new this kid, you wouldn't let him anywhere near your car. He was always just one of those "dirty kids". Total redneck. If these are the type of people that the Saab Dealerships are hiring, I think I'll run the gauntlet of fixing my own car at all costs or at least, in the most extreme cases, try to find a good Indie saab mechanic. I will add also that the SAAB dealership near me does very little of their own work. The have beautiful facilities, but do only the superficial work, such as alternators, water pumps, steering racks, radiators, etc. If your car has a problem like a head gasket, transmission, (stuff that requires removing main engine body components), they send the whole car out on a tractor trailer with the other cars from that week to some SAAB place in Syracuse that does it for them. In fact, I talked to the "Head Tech" at my local Saab dealership to see if he could tell me a little bit about the vacuum system and its routing, and he asked "Why?". I told him that I must have a leak somewhere that I couldn't find, because the car jerked when I stepped on the gas. He proceeded to tell me that a vacuum leak wouldn't make that happen, and to look elsewhere, and to try this and that first. THIS WAS THE MAIN MECHANIC THERE. Just something to think about before you tote your car off to the dealer. There are people here and on the 900 board who can help you figure just about ANYTHING out leaps and bounds better than a dealer.
