I won't use any silicone/rtv sealant on an engine again, unless specificaly called for my the manufacturer. My weapon of choice is the Anaerobic Gasket Maker, aka Loctite/Permatex 518. I use it to keep o-rings in place for assembly, in place of gaskets where clearances are not critical (which may be an issue for the WP housing on that motor), and to coat on certain gaskets as extra security.
518 cures faster, and cleans up a LOT easier than RTV does
OP housing & TP cover should be fine with no paper gasket. Just set a nice bead of 518 down, and you're fine.
I'd be concerned with the WP gasket. Not sure how close the clearance is on that cover. It may not be an issue, though.
I would DEFINITELY use the sealant on the inlet manifold gasket, especially around the water passage under cyls 3 & 4.
The trans to engine gasket should definitely get some extra sealant. I'm not entirely sure you can go without that gasket though. Though it is a very small difference, the clutch shaft bearings might not be happy with a misalignment. I've always used a gasket.
