It is difficult to make an estimate - we got about 24 99s at the 2002 SOC in Hershey, PA but usually there are only 5-6. However, I suspect that most don't turn up at meets. We have a pretty good email list for 99s that represents maybe 30-40 cars. Just as a guess I would say that there must be 100 or more total running cars in the US.
I have a 1978 99 Turbo (Combi) with 213,000 miles and a 1977 99 EMS (Coupe) with 16,000 original miles.
