the problem I see Posted by DougM [Email] (#211) [Profile/Gallery] (more from DougM) on Thu, 27 May 2010 19:12:45 In Reply to: lower, Karl [Profile/Gallery] , Thu, 27 May 2010 18:17:04 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
73's had the external upper spring seat, and used a flat-topped spring. I used a rubber damper at the top of the 74 spring so it could sit in the seat better, which added lift. If I just installed the spring without the extra rubber up top, I don't think it would seat properly. I would also tend to think I can't get replacement springs with a flat top(though I never looked for any). I'd hate to buy springs for it which won't work, since they can be pricey.
The rear was sagging a bit before I started the rear end rebuild, and the front has been too high since I originally restored the car in '02, though I have never figured out the real reason the front end got jacked up. It sat at a much lower height when I towed it home in '01. I have never had the front suspension out of the car, so it's an unsolved mystery.
