Saabers:
Here is the story:
I painted the 78 GLE a triple black that has been buffed to shiny perfection. The redone Inca wheels glisten and the car wears front and rear spoilers. The 5door appears that it is ready to bring home the trophy. Here is the question..... Is it a 16 valve or a Bturbo that should be installed? A number of years ago, I installed a 16valve Turbo with 5speed in a 99 chasis, and experienced a number of problems. I had cut the firewall and lower crossmember and butchered the front crossmember mount to retrofit a 900 motor mount bracket. I did eventually install the enginebut the clkearance from the hood was a half an inch and to the bottom crossmember: a half an inch. It was very close to the power steering rack as well. The mistake I made was using the 900 motor mounts all around. I kept redrilling holes in the motor mount towers in attempt to adjust the engine position. When I did drive the car, there was a strong knocking as I rose in speed felt through the chasis. I opened the bonnet and jacked up the front of the car, and turned the roadwheel by hand and peered into the engine bay. When the revolving wheel would reach a point, the whoile engine would shift. This was the knocking that I experienced driving. I made attempts to adjust the engine posotion, but the engine always shifted when driving. I eventually became frustrated, and scrapped the car. That was a number of years ago before the internet. Can someone share his or her experience installing a 16valve. Can a 5 speed go in a s well? I thought about not installing one, but seeking a rare Bturbo. Does anyone know if the bottom end of the B engine is the same? I'm thinking of seeking a Turbo head and turbo and manifold. Are electrical the same for a gle and turbo? Any opinions would be valued. I want the girl to be faster,
