Gary, again very good info on this. Do you think that the charcoal canister has probably out lived its life? I replaced the rubber fittings that had become brittle on both ends of the long plastic pipe when I replaced the filler hose. Once I did that, I also found a vacuum leak on the hose from the canister back to the air filter housing. You're right though .. its all designed to work to make things more efficient and cleaner and it does that in a passive way. My interest in removing it was purely cosmetic.
