There is also a check-valve at the pump outlet. The return line check vavle is really an "anti-return" valve. It should easily allow flow to return to the tank with almost no back pressure, it should just prevent fuel from flowing out through the return line. New accumulators are available from various sources although a bit pricey. With any luck, the damaged line is the short one that runs from the pump to the accumulator and you can find a used one to replace it just by dropping the tank. The other line goes from the accumulator to the fuel distributor, it's a bit more painful to get that threaded out of the body and replaced.
Best,
Gary
