Sorry for the slow reply. I finally rummaged through the boxes and found some parts, as usual I can't get a link out of Photobucket that will actually post the picture here, but I think if you look at this link you can see it:
http://s974.photobucket.com/user/stottler/media/Saabs/1978%2099%20Turbo/Saab%2099%201978%20Fuel%20Pump%20pickup%20parts.jpg.html?sort=6&o=34
Interestingly, I found pumps with 2 different inlet diameters, hard to see, but the one on the left is larger than the one on the right. You can see the coupling (bottom center) on the fuel pickup, and the pump it fits on the right. As originally installed they just had another tie wrap holding it on the pump as a clamp. The hose I mentioned is also in the picture - it fits on the small diameter pump inlet and can be used to connect to an alternate pickup or a homemade adaptor to the plastic pickup. But, it sounds at this point as if you may have resolved that and found the original adaptor per Steve's part number. Let me know if you need some of the hose, I have plenty!
Good Luck!
Gary
