Spark plugs for all 8 valve engines; Denso W20EX-U, Champion N9YC, and AC 43XLS. All of these work well. Avoid using fancy plugs (like Bosch platinums). This group of plugs is designed for later hemi head engines and typically don't have extended tips due to electrode wear. 8 valve engines require extended tip plugs because the plug is somewhat out of the direct gas flow. Put in a fancy set and you will notice your idle is worse. I don't know how "hard driving" is defined. I'll assume Autobahn driving at 100+ mph for an hour so the normal heat range plugs should be fine for 99% of us in the States. Nothing wrong with using colder plugs, but you might start getting misfires in cold conditions as they get older. For the most part, you don't need resistor plugs if you have resistor wires.
Plug wires, hot coils, etc.: Good set of wires is all you'll ever need. My favorite was made by Whittaker. Solid copper core wires with resistors built into the plug boots. Lasts forever. If you have a newer (1983>) with APC, you'll need to worry more about static suppression because 100% solid ignition wire will interfere with knock sensor readings. Hot coils: a waste of money and could damage the electronic ignition unit. The standard ignition system is not designed to misfire in any condition. I doubt there's much room for improvement.
For those older (< 1977 2L) point systems, think about upgrading to the electronic system found in 1977-1980 cars. The distributor is a drop in. Be aware of possible drive gear differences. The control unit, coil, and wiring are easily transferable. The only problem is the distributor base clamp is different. You'll need to make a Z or horse shoe shaped clamp to hold it down.
