Good evening fellow saab fans,
I have a little bit of an odd topic tonight that i dont think has been discussed in a while. I just bought a fuel distributor/AMM from a volvo 240 Turbo on ebay to swap into my 79 900 Turbo. Although it may or may not be true, another auction for a 240 F. dist. said it would support up to 220HP. My goal in all of this was to have more fuel flow capacity for increasing boost and making more power. Well anyway, I got the thing yesterday and went to work installing it today. I completely connected all the lines with only minor modifications to my fuel lines. It was amazing that the thing bolted up as easily as it did. Thinking about how those fuel dist. work I mounted a few of the externals into different holes than the stock locations for the 240. For instance, out of convenience, i mounted the cold start valve where the inlet for the frequency valve normally goes and mounted the frequency valve inlet where the cold start valve normally goes. So, question number one is I whether I screwed up by doing this. My thinking was that they are both simply openings to the primary side of F. Dist but only to different ports. I wouldnt think that would make a difference. Ok, so i started the car for just a minute this evening to see how it was behaving. After a brief warm up, the engine idled like a sewing machine. The problem is when I give the car gas. It leans out considerably on acceleration (note that when i mean acceleration I am not talking about WOT but feathering the gas). I have an air fuel meter so I am positive on this assessment. The device that I have not replaced with a 240 piece is the warm up regulator. Obviously this could be the reason why it is running lean on acceleration....too much control pressure would not let the plate rise as it should. does anyone know whether a volvo Warm up reg. would mount in the stock location aside the thermostat? I would think this fuel swap is 100% doable but I may be wrong. If anyone has done this before or has any suggestions for me please enlighten me. On the other hand if I am smoking opium that this will work at all please tell me that too. Thanks!

David
