Is the 3-DIN one the same width as the hanging radio pod?
On cars with A/C, the pod sits between the 2 side panels, so it has to be an exact width. The hanging pod attaches with 3 sheet screws along the front edge, and a bracket on the back that attaches to the heater ducting.
Modifying the 3-DIN console may be doable - but that front edge would need some treatment - assuming the width is correct.
