You'll probably want to check that screen. When it gets clogged you risk running lean...lost a good engine that way.
It's frustrating to deal with all these things that stem from a car sitting for years. Sometimes the cars will just fire right back up and it will be one of those "saabs are amazing" moments, or it could end up that you have to change fuel filters two or three times, run system cleaner for months, clean the screen, replace the distributor, replace the warm up regulator, replace the accumulator, replace the cold start valve, and the list could go on. hang in there. It will be worth it.
Where the drain is may not be the low point on the tank as the pump is occupying that space. You can drain via the plug and then remove the pump, check the screen, and then remove the rest of the goodies you might find. I still say something is clogging the distributor You can actually remove the plunger from the underside of the distributor and then attempt to clean the thing that way. There was a post a few weeks back, maybe by Andy in PDX, that mentioned cleaning behind the adjustment screw. It might be worth a look.
