I remember traveling just under 600 miles back home (in 1986) with my then newly purchased 1973 Sonett. At the end of the 9-10 hour trip I felt like I could turn around and drive right back. The seating position was as if I was relaxed resting on a chaise lounge lawn chair. However during the trip I did deal with that unsettling noise at that RPM range. I had driven the car around Expo 86 after purchasing the Sonett and had discovered the rpm range for the exhaust note range on the freeway. I used a set of sound damping ear plugs just placed loosely in each ear (radio did not work well in Vancouver and reception was poor through the Rocky mountains)to alleviate the annoyance. All the thumbs up and head turns made up for the Sonetts exhaust note that trip.
