Wow, somebody who has a 92 besides Tom Donney! I have to admit that I have absolutely no idea about the plumbing on this beast. On the 95/96/97, though, the connection on the input side of the heater system is a thermostatic valve that's connected to the heat control. If you replaced that with a plain T, though, your problem would be that you couldn't shut OFF the heat!
One other consideration that I learned the hard way: ordinary plastic plumbing Ts will *NOT* take the heat of a cooling system! I put some plastic Ts -- the ones designed for hot water plumbing -- into my Sonett's heater circuit when I switched carbs. Right before my eyes, they softened and eventually collapsed; I had to replace them with brass fittings.
