I used to own a 99T and my dad owns a 8v H-engine 900T and the one thing I missed when driving these cars, particularly the 99T was the lack of responsiveness from the engine.
I don't think the 7.5 compression helped. The 900T is a bit more responsive but not a patch on my non turbo 72 99. Mind you it is difficult to beat the sheer fun of the rush the 99T produced when it came on boost, especially when driving in the wet!
