You must have a 1977 99. You mentioned points. 1978 has electronic dist which has no points. Check the Dist shaft for side play. Dist upper bushings wear, It is important that the shaft is predictable so the points open & close at a precise time. It could vary up to 15 degrees when throttled up. Rule of thumb, for every .001 point gap is 1 degree of timing. Point gap is approx .018.
Second thing, check the lambda ground at the trans case. The connection looks like a fan plug. Place your hand on the modulating valve (Buz bomb) located by the air filter and feel if it has a viberating feeling. If it is buzzing the ground is good. If not, it is probably bad. If the mod valve does not buzz, the car will be sluggish on accelleration.
