Cruise control fixed! Posted by aizzo [Email] (#1220) [Profile/Gallery] (more from aizzo) on Mon, 2 Feb 2004 09:41:17 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Just to put the final chapter in for my failed cruise control (for all of you sitting on the edges of your seats wondering! :-)
I finally got the diagnostic to work and discovered it was the stepper motor for the cruise control. I called the dealer and they wanted $1013 (USD!) for the replacement. Well, that seemed a little steep. So I used http://car-part.com/ which gave me a list of about 25 used part places that had the cruise control module for my car (part # 45 37 619). I settled on Borges Foreign Auto Parts (Dighton, MA, http://www.borgesauto.com/) because they were the least expensive ($65 + $15 shipping to Calif), answered the phone and verified they had the proper part quickly, and they offered a 1-year warrantee.
I got the part in about 5 days and installed it this weekend and my cruise is back in working order!
