Engine knock Posted by Saabster [Email] (#2456) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Saabster) on Sun, 8 Feb 2004 18:08:15 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have a '94 900S, auto tranny, with 147K miles. Recently I experianced a problem I need some help with to diagnose the failure. While driving I heard what seemed to be intermittant spark knock, sometime later a more pronouced and frequent knocking seemingly from the engine or exhaust developed. At first I thought it was unignited fuel igniting in the exhaust, or it jumped valve timing, until the oil light lit. Had it towed and I removed the VC. All looks well, using M1 for the past 35+k miles and everything is super clean. Rotated the camshafts and all looks good, sprockets & chain. Any ideas --bad lifters --clogged oil pump? Can't pin point the knock in the engine.
