Ok. First of all look for leaks. Leaks are somewhat of a tell-tale of the state of the car. You already have a red light in the coolant message.
I am not sure what type of drive-train it is. Is it manual or Automatic? If manual, with that mileage you might need to replace the clutch soon which is a LOT of money for a car of that age. I mean a LOTS (~$1000.00 +/- several 100s). If manual, then you got a clutch cable, make sure that a minimum they replace the cable. This is one of the few unrealiable parts on a well kept Saab. Check for the rear engine seal where the Tranny meets the engine. While standing in front of the car, look under the hood locate the oil filter, inspect the area slightly right of the oil filter for oil leaks. You should be able to recognize the tranny by it looks. The rear engine seals tend to leak sooner or later. Replacing just the rear engine seal is as expensive as replacing the clutch. So those two things go hand in hand.
If you are getting coolant messages, check the reservoir. This could be either the sensor, or a sign of other more serious problems (old leaky hoses, water pump o-ring, etc.)
I know all of this advice sounds scary, but it really should not be. I love my Saab. Aside from the clutch cable snapping, it has never stranded me. However, I would argue that they need more TLC and close attention than say a Honda. I do believe however, that these cars are a lot of car for your dollar if you take good care of them. Aside from that, enjoy! :)
