I changed the alternator today... Symptoms that lead up to this... Started car and every warning light was on as well as the warning chime. Was stupid and thought it was a short and tried to drive car home. Stranded 5 minutes later at a 7-11 for 4 hours on Christmas...
F-me... Procedure to fix... In order... Disonnect battery, remove belt tensioner (8mm Hex bit), jack car up and remove splash guard on right front wheel, remove belt, reove upper and lower allen bolts (8MM again) on alternator, use pry bar to get alternator out of its place, disconnect wires to alternator, curse like crazy cause now I cant get alternator out, listen patiently as neighbor remarks on a story of a similar situation with a Jag he once owned, remove 3 bolts from header pipe and push it slightly to side, pull alternator out, coat all bolts with anti-sieze and now reverse. Start car and now realize that the stereo will not work. Pee into small jar to drown myself in...
