When you fit the HO Abbott ECU, you will be able to spin the tires in 1st gear. So the driveline stress is tire traction limited. With the stock system, or modified, driveline shock can be created by dumping the clutch that can be damaging.
So, yes, the traction limiting protects the driveline. But many many vehicles are running at tire spinning torque in 1st gear. Several vehicles have been modified to get full boost in all gears, set to just under 15PSI.
The clutch will be just fine. If it is wears out, it is not because of the higher torque.
If you want an Abbott ECU, get it now, and enjoy it for a longer time period.
You should also modify the throttle body transition casting, and get the Saab sports exhaust in preparation for increased boost.
