I'm very close to buying a Saab 9-5 base model with only the sunroof as the edition. What really won me over when I was at a couple of dealers was the style and look of the 9-5.

But now that I posted the original message and got feedback from owners, I think its safe to say that more would go for the 9-5 if they had the choice again between the 9-3SE.

Price wise, in Canada that is, the 9-5+sunroof is just slightly more expensive than the 9-3SE ....... MSRP 44030 versus 43480. The only catch here is the financing, where the 9-5 is at 4.9% while the 9-3SE is at 1.9%. There is a difference of about $3000 over the long 60 month term should you take that route.

So far all the researching leaves me to think I'm better off with the 9-5 and I also think the resale value is better. Correct me if I'm wrong. Plus I hate look at a magazine (ahem C&D) only to find that my car is place dead last (ahem 9-3SE). I'm sure if they perform a 9-5 comparison with other cars in its class, it won't place dead last.
