Wrong. Here's proof. Posted by Andrew [Email] (#1013) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Andrew) on Wed, 24 Jan 2001 22:20:27 In Reply to: Re: Help!!9-3 SE or Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo????, PJOSEPH, Wed, 24 Jan 2001 10:07:14 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Watch your caps lock.
Actually it does. Check out the stats below: (copied from jeepunpaved.com and toyota.com)
Oh, BTW... I think you meant Grand Cherokee. The Toyota is vastly bigger than the Cherokee (although that's the SUV I'd be driving if the cargo area was a little bigger, I like it the most! Doesn't even try to be rugged and honest- it is)
Toyota:
Interior dimensions front/rear (in.)
Head room 39.3/38.7
Shoulder room 53.6/53.3
Hip room 49.8/51.3
Leg room 42.6/34.9
Seating capacity 5
Cargo capacity (cu. ft.) rear seatbacks up/down 44.6/79.8
Jeep:
Interior Dimensions
(inches unless otherwise specified)
Head Room, front/rear 39.7/39.5
Leg Room, front/rear 41.4/35.3
Shoulder Room, front/rear 58.9/57.8
Hip Room, front/rear 56.5/52.4
Cargo Volume (cu ft)
Rear Seats Up 39
Rear Seats Folded 72.3
You'll notice that cargo capacity with the rear seats up is 5 cu ft bigger in the 4Runner. It's also a deeper cargo bay, although not as wide. For the way that I travel with tall suitcases, it's easier to pack. I've put almost 15k on the Toyota this year, mostly highway trips. The Jeep has a wider front cockpit area, but the Toyota has more rear seat legroom. (Interestingly, Jeep says that they have more legroom... there's no way that's possible- I think it's minimum legroom, meaning that the Toyota seats probably have more rearward travel.)
Both are fine vehicles (no substitute for the turbo rush of a Saab 4-cylinder), and I'm not sure what I would buy if I had to do it again. The Jeep is VERY good.
But anyways... this IS a Saab BB... let's get back to talking about how we like to hear the sound of a Saab turbo spooling up and just what the new 9-3 will look like. Oh, and since it's become a staple of the Saab Network, I think that we should all complain about the Aztek a little more.
Respectfully yours,
Andrew
