First of all this advice is based on an assumption: Getting a car seat that will use the anchor means that it is basically permanently fixed to the car until you undo the teather strap...true?
If that assumption is true, then I would advise against it until you have to get the next size car seat (usually 6 months of age or 20lbs). We got an infant car seat that has a base. The base attaches to the car using the seat belt (I'm not sure if the teather anchor can be used or not, if it can then I would definitely get this seat if I were you), and the seat latches into the base. That way you can put the child in the car seat in the house or wherever and then carry her out to the car latch the car seat in and you're off. The system is actually quite sturdy, if it's installed properly. Plus when you get home, the kid is usally asleep and you can just unlatch the car seat carry her in and let her sleep until she wakes up, instead of waking her up when you take her out of a permanently fixed seat. We have two vehicles, so we have two bases and one car seat. The bases stay in the car. It works really well. I believe the seat is made by Graco.
