Accident related problems

Had a small accident yesterday - there is a post below giving the details - but to recap, I was hit from behind, with the only visible damage being a bent tailpipe and dented bumper.
Two issues have come up:
First, the car (00' Viggen) was a little difficult to start this morning. No big deal, as it's done this before, but when I got off work tonight, the car was VERY hard to start (5 seconds) and ran rough until I turned off the AC. As I drove, the idle progressively got worse, until it pretty much died right when I got home. Now it won't start. So, could this be related to the accident, or is it just rotten coincidence? If so, what could it be - like I said, the tailpipe is bent, but not enough to impede airflow, and the rest of the exhaust looks OK. Fuel pump, maybe?
Second issue - turns out the guy who hit me has Progressive Insurance. Great. His agent came by this afternoon to check out the car. When I asked to make sure they were replacing everything, he balked, and said they would probably just "repair" the bumper and bend back the tailpipe. I figure this is complete BS, and let him know that - but it looks like I'll have a hard time with this. Any advice? Will I have better luck going through my insurance (State Farm)?
Thanks.
