Thanks for taking the time. To set the record straight, I don't have any real problems with the roughness of the car's suspension or the degree of body roll. But I've seen the issue come up a few times, and I didn't know the answer. Saab owners are curious people in more ways than one.
You said that the roll stiffness in the front is not equal to that in the rear. Are you refering to the anti-roll bars, or to the chassis itself?
I assume that a moment is introduced in the strut because the upper mount doesn't pivot freely. But perhaps I'm not understanding you correctly. In my mind, I see three forces acting at the wheel hub - the vertical force from the road resolved by a horizontal member in tension (control arm) and a diagonal member in compression (strut). (The horizontal force at the top of the strut carried through to the opposite tower.) I'm uncertain why you say the force of the strut must pass through the contact patch.
