Okay - I've looked through the postings here, and while I'm sure there is no consensus on this sort of thing, before I plunk money down on a 2001 base 9-3, I want to know what I am getting myself into. I jumped in one on a lark earlier this week (as I had never sat in a Saab before), and I was so impressed, I'm considering it next to some other options. The thing that I am concerned about the most is the maintenance. I'm not naive enough to think that nothing will go wrong with a car (with so many moving parts?), but I want to know how much of an inconvenience the maintenance issues with the newer cars is for you. From what I have been hearing, Saab is a maintenance nightmare, but that seems to be for models from the middle 90's. How are the newer ones? How many days a year should I plan to have my Saab in the shop in the first 3 years? And I can't understand why I'll need to pay $50 for an oil change... can someone explain that to me? Thanks in advance for your thoughts...
