From some of the other threads about high inventory numbers and price incentives it’s pretty obvious what GM/SAAB is trying to do.
It’s a sad day when a company starts to display this type of behavior. You just can not increase profits by upping production and then cutting prices in order to sell the increased production. We have seen this many times in the past. It’s nice for the buyers, temporarily, but the long term value of vehicles drop and you alienate past buyers who paid full price for their cars only to see the resale value disappear.
There is nothing wrong with being small, having a low production rate. There is also nothing wrong with having only a few models, a large number of models to chose from does not mean better, only more. Change for change sake does not make for a better vehicle.
These are ideas that have be promoted by the U.S. auto companies as the way to do business, not all of us like or think this is the best way. Poor SAAB, poor us.
