This should no longer be a problem. Saab has issued information on the proper fix. It is a several hour job that requires the removal and replacement of the heater box. Simply putting on new knobs and lubing the cable controls is not the proper fix, this has been known for over a year now. I can't understand why some dealers still don't do it right the first time (or eighth?).
From looking at the shop manual, it appears that adding ACC wouldn't be impossible. Still, if you bought all the parts new and paid the dealer to do the install, it would probably be over a grand when all is said and done.
