Although comparisions are interesting, you really cannot compare your Saab car to any other as, as soon as you do, you find fundamental differences that go to the very root of what the Saab car is all about.
Take the storage space thing for starters. Do you now start to compare the Saab to the Aztek?
And how about the way the car handles? Although the Germans will give you a stiffer chassis, the French love cars that lean in the corners like the Peugeot. Who's to say what's right or better when the very design goes to a philosophy and not a mere mechanical 'improvement'.
And how about the Saab reputation for long-lived engines. Do we now bring in the venerable Toyotas?
A comparison to Volvo is always safe (and Volvos are safe cars) as it is another Swedish car but the stats on numbers of screw-ups in new cars begins to make them look like a Ford.
Mercedes has always had a pricing policy that made them appear as if they were worth more but when you get down to it, they really aren't worth that much more money. It is a ruse perpetrated by Mercedes whose duped owners will spend a lot of money on them to keep the ruse going.
Sure...the Saab invites comparison but I'd say be proud you've taken a truly unique, 'holistic' decision road with this car and be prepared to advocate for it on that basis alone.
It is truly a good-looking car; perhaps better than most but again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, yes?
