Your likely provides that you are responsible for paying $0.15 or $0.20 per excess mile. Are you saying you will have 60,000 miles in excess of the allowed mileage? If you actually are total 60k miles, and the lease allows 15k miles per year, on a 3 year lease, the obligation will be for $2,250 - $3,000, if you turn the car in. You will want to factor that into any offer you want to make, as the leasing company is contractually due the payment for excess mileage. You likely will not be able to make the leasing company absorb the excess mileage for which you contracted to pay extra. However, if wholesale market value for your 9-3 is only $9,000 - $10,000, you may have a shot at striking a deal somewhat closer to your goal number. You will have to negotiate - recognizing that, if you turn the car in, you'll be on the hook for the excess mileage plus in excess wear and tear they determine exists. Your better option will be to negotiate a price close to the wholesale book value (disregarding, for the most part, the excess mileage impact) and applying what that excess milegae penalty would be as part of the purchase price. (I'd hate to pay them $2-3,000 just to take a perfectly good car back)! Then, don't lease again without making a realistic estimte of your likely future driving.
