Well the Saturn dealership has said they'd include in the contract that they would pick up the tab on fixing the alarm up to 30 days past the sale.
I asked my only Saab dealership (60 miles away from me and 30 from the Saturn lot) if they'd fix the alarm under warranty and they said it depended on what they find to be the cause of its failure.
I while at the dealer lot I drove a couple of other cars that were interesting.
A black 96 900SE 5spd with 86k going for $11,900. It seemed like an 7 or 8 out of ten and the lot has all maint. history on the car. It kind of shuddered up & down when initially going from off-to-on the gass. Clutch time, motor mounts or what? This car is "as is".
A midnight blue 98 SE 5spd with 45K going for $17,500. Looks like a 8+ or 9 of ten and it is a lease return from CA. No maint records avail. This one is more than I planned to spend but is the only of the three that has a warrantee. It is considered a "certified Saab" and I'm told it will be covered just past the 60k mile mark.
The red 99 9-3 S has only 1000 miles left on the warrantee and I'm leaving on Monday for a 1000+ mile business trip.
One thing I wanted to know about the alarms. I noticed on the 900 SEs I drove that just in front of the dash board alarm indicator light there is a little glass looking dome. I don't know what it is but the 99 9-3S doesn't have this, just a recessed ring in the dash surface that is the same circumference as the 900's dome. What's up with that?
