An advantage to living in Germany is I can legally see what the car will do. That is during those rare moments when traffic and weather cooperate. I have a base, US-specification 2000 9-3. It will consistently run at 145 MPH. When temperature and road conditions are right, I have gotten it to 153 MPH on level ground. In both situations the speed was inching up, but I had to slow down for traffic. So I really don't know the absolute top end. Stability is great as long as there are no crosswinds. I usually cruise at around 110 MPH. Incidentally, several years ago I drove a new 1988 Saab 9000 turbo to 139 MPH on level ground and 149 MPH on a long down hill section of autobahn. That is when I discovered that I liked Saabs.
