I picked up a new 2001 9-3 base coupe (no longer produced for the USA) at the factory last summer and drove it hard for 11K miles in Europe. It regularly held 125-130 running easily in train with big Audis, Bimmers and Benzes and topped out several times at an indicated 145, but only on the best and most remote autobahns like the fabulous new A62 south of Trier. Best, however, was the comfortable 3000 rpm cruise in fifth, which showed 87-88 mph on the speedo and 28-29 mpg on the SID. I am a very satisfied SAAB customer.
