Drowned my car in November. Raining really hard and I went around a corner into about almost a foot and half of water. My car insurance (Progressive) covered over $3000 worth of work. Most of it was preventive measures to ensure I would not have problems later on caused by corrosion. I had no clue that comprehensive insurance covered flooding caused because I drove into water. Figured it was my fault-my problem.
What they covered:
clean brakes, pack bearings
flush engine, change fluids
clean and lube starter, alternator
service electric window motor
service front differential
replace air cleaner element
replace emission system control valve, vapor canister
replace main computer (about $800)
replace spark plugs
detail inside car
This actually saved me about $400 on my 30,000 mile service because of everything the insurace company did. About two weeks later I had a problem with a sensor (can't remember what it was now) beacause of corrosion but dealer replaced under warranty for me - Guess because of the $3000 they had just made off of me. I have not had any other problems since then.
So call your insurance agent immediately and see what they will cover for you. Good Luck.
