Purchasing at lease end from Saab

There have been a number of people on this board who have asked about buying their car at the end of the lease from Saab. We've heard that Chase negotiates, but Saab may not, at least not as much as Chase.
With 5 mos. to go on my lease, I contacted Saab yesterday and asked them if they'd accept an offer below the agreed upon residual price. The person that I talked to told me that she could not deal at this time, however, Saab did not want me to have to pay above market. She suggested that I call back in a couple of mos., which is what I plan to do.
So this was encouraging, but I don't know if Saab and I will agree on the market value. I'll do my research before I talk with them again.
I'd rather purchase my well-maintained car than someone else's, unless there is a large price differential.
I'd like to hear from anyone who's gone through this process with Saab. Thanks!
