Hi,
No worries.
Saab is very conservative about engine design. For instance, 2.0L
Saab I4 can take combustion which results from 20psi boost without
problems. It is bullet proof. However, Saab runs this same engine
(and the 2.3L) at much lower boost. That is partly why Saab engines
last for 1/4 million miles or more.
If engine parts are made out of aluminum, the engine would be lighter.
That is a good thing. For the same amount of power, the car would have
less weight, yielding better power to weight ratio.
In addition, for a FWD vehicle, getting weight out of front end of
vehicle is a good thing from a handling stand-point due to better
weight balance.
So, Saab going to an aluminum engine is a good thing. Saab will have
that engine tuned up to 250bhp in NO time! :-)
thanks
Jae
