If the BEST technicians I know do not use antiseize on the threads of the sparks, then I won't either. My local tech, wiht over 18 yrs of SAAB experience is on the SAAB advisory council, and if it's good enough for him NOT TO USE ANTISEIZE COMPOUND on the plugs he installs--working on SAABS ALL DAY LONG--then little ol' me can take a lesson from him.
Never had a SAAB cylinder head "seize-up" on the sparks in almost 1.3 million miles of owning and driving SAABs for over 26 years. I change my plugs often to where the antiseize compound would be moot.
I do use antiseize on my lawn and garden power equipment, caliper bolts and the like--just not on the sparks.
The former NGK spark plug site (not the one on the web presently) did NOT RECOMMEND the use of antiseize on their plugs. The present site does not speak to this issue as far as I can see.
Plus, when you take the plugs (with antiseize) out of the head, you have to be concerned that the antiseize left behind doesn't trap dust and grit---resulting possibly in an undertorqued plug condition.
