It came out in other posts---at first it seemed that you might have owned 2 cars, but I see that the 2002 you're saying is timid is a service loaner.
My philosophy on a service loaner is to be glad my feet are dry--in other words not to judge it on a performance scale. The car most likely had 87 octane fuel, and a full fuel load, and was driven the day before by a 50 yr old lady on her way to work at 35 mph.....
Your current mileage was not present in the original post, but your BPC/BPV going bad could be something that makes your car feel much quicker...as I posted earlier
