Hi Folks!
You all seem to come from the USA/CA. Interesting discussion. But I´ve never heard from a (Saab)diesel which is faster than the viggen. Also there are diesel cars faster the viggen.
Your fuel point in regard to the relatively small engines: Yes, fuel is much more expensive in Europe than in North-America. In the moment the average price in Germany is
diesel (min. 51 CZ up to 55 CZ) 0.85 €/ltr = 0.964 US$/ltr
regular fuel (91 ROZ) 1.05 €/ltr = 1.19 US$/ltr
super (95 ROZ) 1.07 €/ltr = 1.214 US$/ltr
super plus (98 ROZ) 1.11 €/ltr = 1.259 US$/ltr
100 ROZ for older cars (1.16 €/ltr ???)
Most of the other countries in Europe are even more expensive. Another point are the costs for the insurance. Obviously the faster the car the higher the risc for the companies. Additionaly you have to remember the high security laws and the climate. As far as I remember my visits in USA / CA I´ve never seen so old cars in such a good condition!
These are just a jew arguments.
Greetings from Germany (SAAB 9-3 TiD, 125 hp, 900 SE 2.0 turbo, 185 hp)
