a) I didn't flush either of my engines before switching to syn, but I'll soon be using Auto-Rx in both (at 50k in the '99 9³, & 165k in the '90 900). Based on all the info I could gather, I feel most comfortable using this product. No, it's not necessary, but yes, I would recommend using A-Rx on a Saab turbo that's seen nearly 50k miles on dino.
b) If I lived in an area that never got below 30°F, I'd use only M1 15W-50. For colder areas (or if you're not comfortable with that weight), I'd choose either Delvac 1 5W-40, M1 0W-40, or any comparable viscosity premium oil from Amsoil.
c) If you don't already have leaks, you shouldn't expect leaks. (I know how you feel, considering your previous experience, but I've heard more "no leaks" stories than I've heard "got leaks" stories.) If it offers any peace-of-mind, Auto-Rx users have reported existing leaks which slowly stopped after using the product. (I've got a valve cover leak on my 900, so I'll report if it stops after using A-Rx. Unfortunately, if you're switching over shortly, my info won't be in soon enough to help.)
